Ritché. It has become the name that people think about when they are getting married.
The story starts back in 1952.
Young European designer Jack Ritché settles in a new city, Toronto, and looks to start up a career in fashion. After being discovered by Toronto high society women he was encouraged to open a store. All the women’s clothing was designed by him and created by his team of dressmakers. Word spread of his talents and the store on Bloor Street flourished.
Shortly afterwards he discovered that there was a need for custom designed wedding dresses and created a collection.
It was a hit!
His name has since become synonymous with weddings. He ran fashion shows that over 1000 people attended. He was the designer of choice for Canadian celebrities and pageant queens.
Over the years, the store relocated and now has settled at the Avenue Road location. Vivian, his daughter, who grew up in the fashion business, now runs the store with her husband Arthur. The store hosts bridal gowns from designers from around the world. There is also a full floor of bridesmaid’s dresses and beautiful eveningwear. A team of seamstresses make sure that every bride looks just right walking down the aisle.
After 57 years the company continues to flourish by offering their customers great selection, competitive prices and most importantly careful, honest customer service.
